Gamification encourages meaningful participation by turning everyday activities into rewarding tasks, keeping your members engaged and active! Returning.AI's extensive gamification features allow you to set up a dynamic engagement loop: members earn gamification units by completing community actions. These units can then be exchanged for rewards in the Rewards Store. or help members progress through tiers, unlock new levels, and climb the leaderboards, creating a cycle of motivation that drives ongoing participation.
Gamification Units are the foundation of your community's reward system. Similar to a point system, they incentivize members to complete tasks, driving engagement and boosting activity.
Returning.AI communities come with two types of gamification units:
Experience Points (XP): Earned to level up, unlock community tiers, or gain specific roles.
Community Currency (Coins): A currency that members can redeem for rewards in the Rewards Store.
Each unit has a unique function within your community and can be enabled based on your specific gamification and engagement goals. You can also customize each unit with a unique name and icon to align with your community's brand identity.
Rewarding Community Action
Units are rewarded to community members whenever they complete certain community actions. The basic list of rewardable actions is as follows:
Sending a Message
Replying to a Message
Reacting to a Message
Daily Login
Refer User
To enable rewards for an action, toggle it on and set the amount of XP or Coins to be awarded. You can configure cooldowns for Messages, Replies, and Reactions to prevent point farming. Set the number of seconds that must pass between each action before members can earn points again.
Converting Units
If needed, you can convert members' units from one type to another. This process will replace a specified number of units with the other unit type for all members in your community. Please note that this action is irreversible.
The unit on the left represents the unit to be changed, while the unit on the right is the destination unit. You can switch between the two by clicking the arrows in the center. After inputting your desired values, click "Convert" and save your changes.
Configuration Display
Decide where each of your units will be shown. You can choose which units appear in your community’s navigation bar, located at the very top of your community. Use the toggle next to each unit to control its visibility in the nav bar.
You can also select which units members will receive notifications for. Whenever a member completes an action and earns a reward, a pop-up notification will appear in the top-right corner. Toggle on the units you’d like to trigger these notifications.
Unit Multipliers
You can enable unit multipliers for specific channels, allowing members to earn more currency in targeted areas like "#Introductions" or "#Feedback." This incentivizes increased engagement by offering higher rewards for activity in these channels.
To set this up, enable the multiplier for the unit you want to boost, select the channel where it will apply, and input the multiplier value. Save your changes to activate the feature.
Now, actions performed in the specified channels will grant members increased units based on the multiplier you've set.
Automated Role Assignment
In addition to manually assigning roles, gamification allows you to automatically assign roles to members who reach a specific XP threshold. By syncing automated roles with achieved tiers and levels, you can reward users with both a new tier and a matching role.
To set this up, toggle on role assignments in your gamification settings. You’ll see a list of all roles and their associated private channel access. Select the roles you want to assign automatically, and set the required units for each.
Gamification Log
To view an extensive list of XP, Coin, and Role assignments, head over to your Gamification log. The Gamification log keeps a detailed record of all gamification-related actions, both manual and automated, and can be downloaded as a CSV file for easier tracking and reporting.
