Returning.AI wants you to keep your community safe. Rules uphold structure and ensure that everyone has a positive experience. When rules are broken, community owners can penalize rulebreakers by issuing warnings and/or limiting their access.
Misconduct Management
To manage misconduct, go to your user list where you can both track and assign penalties. Click into the “Penalty Management” view to reveal all misconduct-related fields. When you’re ready to assign a penalty, scroll horizontally to the target user, click “Edit,” and select the appropriate action, warning, suspension, or ban, from the penalty options.
Warn
You can issue a warning to an offender, signaling that their behavior was inappropriate without jumping to suspension or ban. This gives them an opportunity to correct their actions. Warnings come with a notification, and there are no limits to how many warnings a member can receive.
Suspend
A temporary suspension restricts a member's access to your community, preventing them from viewing or interacting in channels. You can set a specific duration for the suspension and provide a reason that the offender can see when they attempt to access the community. Suspensions automatically end after the set period but can be revoked or extended at any time.
To extend a suspension, click the pencil icon next to the penalty end date. This will allow you to set a new "Effective Till" date and provide a reason for the extension.
Ban
A permanent ban will prevent the offender from accessing your community indefinitely. Bans have no expiration but can be revoked at any time. To ban a user, simply select 'Ban.'
Keep in mind that banned users still need to be manually removed from your community. For instructions on how to remove a user fully, refer to this article.
Revoking Actions
Suspensions and Bans can be revoked at any time. Click on the edit button for the user you would like to revoke penalties for, and click 'Revoke Suspension/Ban'.
Misconduct Log
To view an extensive record of all misconduct-related actions taken by both community owners and administrations, head into the Misconduct Log in your community settings. This will show you an extensive list of any penalty action taken against any member in your community.
